Full-Time WORKSHOP TECHNICAL SUPPORT MANAGER

Job Summary:
The Workshop Technical Support Officer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to workshop technicians, facilitating the smooth flow of jobs, diagnosing and repairing vehicles (including heavy trucks), managing warranties, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. This role involves hands-on involvement in troubleshooting and assisting technicians with complex issues, as well as effective communication with both technicians and customers to explain vehicle repairs and services clearly.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
• Provide hands-on technical assistance to workshop technicians when faced with challenging and complex repair tasks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot difficult mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles, including heavy trucks.
• Offer guidance on proper repair procedures, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to industry standards.

Job Coordination:
• Collaborate with the Fixed Operations Manager to assign jobs to technicians based on their skill sets and availability, optimizing workflow and minimizing downtime.
• Monitor job progress, identify bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to ensure jobs are completed within the specified timeframes.

Vehicle Repair and Maintenance:
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on vehicles, including heavy trucks, as required.
• Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of repair procedures, parts used, and work performed.
• Conduct post-repair inspections to verify the quality of work and adherence to standards.

Warranty Management:
• Process warranty claims in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and dealership policies.
• Collaborate with the Service Advisors to ensure accurate and timely submission of warranty claims, minimizing delays and maximizing reimbursements.

Customer Communication:
• Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner to explain repair recommendations, completed work, and additional services required.
• Address customer inquiries, provide estimates, and clarify technical aspects in a clear and understandable manner.

Technical Training:
• Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry trends.
• Facilitate technical training sessions for workshop technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Trade Certificate in Automotive Engineering or related field.
• Experience of 10 years or more in automotive repair and diagnostics, including heavy trucks.
• Previous experience as a technical trainer in the automotive industry, conducting training sessions for technicians on repair techniques, diagnosis, new technologies, and best practices.
• Strong technical knowledge of various vehicle systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
• Exceptional communication skills to interact with technicians, customers, and other team members.
• Detail-oriented approach to documentation and record-keeping.
• Previous experience in a technical support or supervisory role within an automotive workshop is a plus.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.

Working Conditions:
The role involves working in a fast-paced automotive workshop environment.
May require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Exposure to various vehicle repair chemicals, lubricants, and components.
