CARE International in Vanuatu (CARE Vanuatu) has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Humanitarian Preparedness and Emergency Response and Recovery.

CARE Vanuatu is implementing recovery programs for Tropical Cyclone Harold and the impacts of COVID-19, and is also undertaking long term gender programming in Tafea. CARE, in partnership with the Vanuatu Christian Council (VCC) Nasituan, and Wan Smol Bag (WSB), and in collaboration with the Vanuatu Society for People with a Disability, is responding to the recovery needs of affected households in the island of Pentecost and Tanna. The recovery programs are focusing on food security and women’s economic empowerment and leadership, as well as an ongoing shelter response.
To support implementations of these projects in Pentecost and Tanna, CARE is seeking individuals for these following positions:

1. Partnership Coordinator

Based in Port Vila, you will act as the main focal points of engagement with VCC, Nasituan and WSB, with support from Recovery Managers. You will be responsible to ensure that the agreed partnership principles guide all engagements between the partners, and that the partnership is a two way learning process. Your role will also lead on providing support and follow up on capacity assessments to continuously engage and support partners in regard to program management and program quality.

2. Team Leader – TC Harold/ COVID-19 Recovery

This position is based in Pentecost and will be responsible to coordinate all field based activities, able to lead a team and good coordination with partner agencies and volunteers.

3. Recovery Officers – Gender (X2)

Being part of our response and recovery team in Pentecost, you will provide support to implement the day to day field based gender activities with communities and to monitor the progress of these activities. Gender focused activities will include (but not be limited to) sensitisation sessions with community leaders, mapping of women’s groups, women’s leadership trainings (for both men and women), supporting VCC and Nasituan to ensure that food security activities are inclusive of women and people with a disability, rolling out workshops on Family Financial Management Training and supporting women to access and utilize feedback mechanisms.
