Care International in Vanuatu –  Tanna & Port Vila

CARE International in Vanuatu (CARE Vanuatu) has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Humanitarian Preparedness and Emergency Response and Recovery.

CARE Vanuatu is currently seeking individuals for these following positions:

1. Gender Project Manager – WEE (Women Economic Empowerment) & EVAWG (Eliminating Violence against Women & Girls)

The Project Manager – Gender Equality role provides senior level leadership and management across selected projects within the Gender Equality Program. This position involves the management and responsibility of a complex area of functional expertise including leading a team, program development, representation, financial accountability and management of a number of projects. This role is a proven and experienced professional that manages key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and manages a team of direct reports.

The position will initially lead on the start-up and then implementation of the Tanna component of the Helti Kakai, Helti Families project, as well as the Erromango SAFEST project. The position will also provide oversight of the existing GIVE (Gender Inclusion with a Voice of Economic Empowerment) team. The position will also ensure that all direct reports actively participate in coordination mechanisms within the Tanna office.

This is role will be either based in Tanna or Port Vila based on recruitment. Travelling is required to other sites.

2. Senior Program Quality (PQ) Officer – Tanna

Based in Tanna, you will ensure that all project teams in Tanna Office receive high quality support to strengthen Monitoring , Evaluation, Accountability and Learning within their projects, as well as supporting teams to ensure that they are applying CARE’s program policies and systems effectively to strengthen program quality. The role will also play an active role in the Coordination team.

Regular travel to other sites is a requirement.

3. Senior Program Quality (PQ) Officer – Port Vila

You will work to ensure the effective design and regular review of program activities, approaches, strategies and lessons learned to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of program activities. Part of your role will be responsible for supporting teams in the design, development and implementation of program monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning frameworks and plans. You will also support teams to ensure that program policies are understood and applied by all team members, and that project cycle management tools and systems are utilized consistently and effectively, including supporting the implementation of the CARE Vanuatu partnership strategy. The position will also act as focal point and follow up on partner capacity building plans relevant to this role for assigned partners.

The role is based in Port Vila, and will travel frequently to field sites. Some travel to field offices and to regional workshops may be required.

4. Finance Officer

The role will work as part of the Finance team to perform the day to day finance and accounting activities for the care office in Port Vila. Some of your main responsibilities are:

  • Processing cheque and bank payments
  • Payments to third parties and to staff and;
  • Ensuring compliance, foster safe and responsible practices for cash (e.g cash handling procedures, cash payments/ transactions)
