CARE International in Vanuatu (CARE Vanuatu) has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Humanitarian Preparedness and Emergency Response and Recovery.
CARE Vanuatu is currently seeking individuals for these following positions:

1. Recovery Officer – Gender (AHP) – Pentecost x 2
Based in Pentecost, you will be responsible to support the Senior Gender Officer to implement the day to day field based gender activities. This includes implementing gender project activities with communities, and monitoring the progress of these activities. Gender focused activities will include (but not be limited to) sensitisation sessions with community leaders, mapping of women’s groups, women’s leadership trainings (for both men and women), rolling out workshops on Family Financial Management Training and supporting women to access and utilize feedback mechanisms. The Recovery Officer position will also participate in coordination mechanisms as delegated.

This role will be based in Pentecost based on recruitment. Travelling is required to other sites in Pentecost and Ambrym.

2. Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) officer (EU) – Tanna x 1
The Recovery Officer – Gender (EU) is responsible to support the Team Leader EU/SAFEST to implement the day to day field based gender activities. This includes implementing gender project activities with communities, and monitoring the progress of these activities. Gender focused activities will include (but not be limited to) sensitisation sessions with community leaders, mapping of women’s groups, women’s leadership trainings (for both men and women), rolling out workshops on Family Financial Management Training and supporting women to access and utilize feedback mechanisms. The WEE officer position will also participate in coordination mechanisms as delegated.

The role is based in Tanna, and will travel frequently to field sites.

3. Driver – Pentecost
As a driver, you will work as part of the Logistics team perform the day to day maintenance of the CARE vehicle to ensure it is in good running condition including;

  • Driving of the CARE vehicle
  • Safely transporting of CARE staff and its partners
  • Work with logistics to safely organize staff trips
  • Maintain the vehicle logbook
  • Monthly invoicing of kilometers run to the different projects
