VACANCY NOTICE: Building Inspector
The Port Vila City Council is keen to recruit a suitable candidate for the exciting role of Building Inspector within the Organization.
This position is responsible to assist the Town Planning Officer to implement the Physical Planning Act, Building Code Act, Municipalities Act and be responsible for policing and implementation of relevant Port Vila Municipal Council planning bye-laws and regulations.

Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu
Candidates with the following qualification and experience are eligible to apply:
Education/Training: Diploma in Architect, Civil & Construction Engineering or relevant field
Experience: 3 or more years in relevant field
Language: English, French & Bislama (Read and Write)
Competencies:
- Knowledge of building related codes and ordinances enforced by the city including uniform building electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes
- Knowledge of computer programs, including spreadsheets and CAD software, fire alarm and sprinkler systems
- Knowledge of general zoning and land use laws, general grading practices, codes and ordinances related to disabled and public access
- Knowledge of strong construction and material science, great attention to detail, as well as good communication and problem-solving skills
- Craft experience, detail oriented, mechanical knowledge and physical stamina
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and plans; enforce regulations firmly and impartially
