Full-Time TRAINEE GRADUATE ENGINEER
Job Description
Vodafone Vanuatu is seeking for a Trainee Graduate Engineer based in Port Vila.
Mission
- Provide technical support to other Vodafone Vanuatu staff, vendors, suppliers & customers where needed.
- Monitor and maintain the Vodafone Vanuatu IT computing, VAS, Billing & Roaming environment.
- Generate and provide timely reporting to assist management with ensuring maximum uptime of all services and for planning purposes.
Activities:
- Assist with Helpdesk, procurement of hardware and software and IT security
- Support respective Engineers with project management
- Spare parts management with regards to supervised systems
- Learn operation and maintenance of various telecommunications platforms under the supervision of the respective Engineers
- Help maintain the relevant databases
- Assist with periodical health checks for all relevant systems
- Monitoring and supervision of systems to ensure good performance and also fast fault detection
- Learn troubleshooting steps in case of faults, identifying root causes of errors and liaise with systems’ supplier for fault corrections
- Learn implementation of new offers, packages and price plans according to company strategy and apply when needed from time to time
- Participate in new projects related to supervised systems and services
- Provide support to internal and external customers related to managed platforms/services
- Participation in resolving of customer complaints related to the various services under the supervision of the respective Engineers
- Reporting to direct superior about any ongoing activities and their progress
- Reporting to direct superior the health status of supervised systems, defined KPIs and other required statistics including company dashboards
- Assist respective Engineers with producing documentation on operational issues and work procedure
- Other activities relate to department concerned defined by the direct superior in order to fulfil all position’s requirements and to address current needs
Competences:
1. Knowledge
- Diploma or Bachelor in IT, IS or related field
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft environment (Windows 2008 R2, Exchange, Active Directory, WSUS…
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux System
- Good knowledge of the Internet environment (DNS, SMTP, POP, HTTP, PHP…) and IP Networking
- Knowledge related to Databases with particular reference to Oracle advantageous
- Knowledge of SQL language advantageous
- Knowledge and understanding about mobile networks advantageous
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networks
- Good knowledge of Wireshark protocol monitoring tool. Experience with other monitoring tool advantageous
2. Skills
- Very good communications skills both spoken and written in Bislama & English with French being an advantage but not necessary
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt and acquire new skills
- Ability to work on a transversal way, understanding all the needs of the different entities
- Ability to work under time pressure
- Ability to have excellent relationship with external partners and operators
- Valid driving license is a must
