Job Description

VBL is looking for a vibrant, motivated, honest individual to fill in the position of Manager, to manage the daily operations of VBL’s new addition in Luganville, The Airport Cafe at the Pekoa Airport terminal.

This position reports to: General Management – Port Vila Main office, in collaboration with Santo Branch office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean, organized and stocked environment.
  • Performs all Café duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, coordinating with the Corporate Office as necessary.
  • Establishes effective and positive communication amongst all team members.
  • Assists in maintaining proper coverage and team member schedules ensuring that the Café maintains customer service standards and team members adhere to procedures in place.
  • Ensures all cash handling procedures are upheld. Is accountable for Café funds while running a shift.
  • Assists in planning and executing all sales promotions effectively and efficiently.
  • Will provide guidance and actively set an example for team members, ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and followed.
  • Ensure the daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed at a high standard. Appoints a day of the week for extreme cleaning of the Café, in/out.
  • Promotes and practices safe work habits, reporting potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and team member incidents to Manager. Reports/documents team member accidents conducts initial investigation and determinations of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

  • Is the Role Model for outstanding service.
  • Pro-active in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.
  • Ensures that all Team Members follow the Standard Operating Procedures lead by greeting and responding to all customers with fast, efficient, friendly and personalized service. Strives to develop a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigates and resolves customer incidents, documenting if necessary.
  • Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet the Company’s service standards.
  • Achieving daily sales target.

Product:

  • Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
  • Ensures that all team members are educated on products and services expected.

Training & Development:

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead, communicate and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provides coaching and training to Cashiers & employees under his supervision on performance expectations.
  • To be professional, polite and well presented, as a leading example to the employees under your supervision.
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities required at any time.

Qualifications:

  • Hospitality/ Tourism certifications
  • At least, Year 12 certificate
  • MUST have a valid drivers license
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene regulations and procedures
  • People management skills
  • Business management knowledge, including budgeting, accounting, sales and marketing skills

Useful experience
Useful experience for cafe/ restaurant managers includes:

  • any work at a cafe, fast food outlet or restaurant such as bartending or waitering
  • retail or sales management
  • administrative work
  • staff management experience.
