Job Title: Temporary Community Liaison Officer (Cadet) – Erakor Area Council
Employer: Shefa Provincial Government Council (SPGC)
Location: Erakor Area Council, Efate, Vanuatu
Duration: Temporary Contract (4 months)
Reports to: Secretary General

About the Position

The Shefa Provincial Government Council is seeking a motivated, community-oriented, and reliable individual to serve as the Temporary Community Liaison Cadet Officer for the Erakor Area Council. The successful applicant will act as the key communication link between the Council, the Erakor community, community leaders, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination of community activities, consultations, and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide support as:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between SPGC and the Erakor Area Council.
  • Facilitate community meetings, consultations, and awareness programs.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with chiefs, community leaders, youth, women, and other community groups.
  • Assist with implementing community development projects and Council initiatives.
  • Collect community feedback and prepare reports for management.
  • Coordinate community engagement activities and public awareness campaigns.
  • Support conflict resolution and promote effective communication within the community.
  • Assist in organizing official visits, area council meetings, community events, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings, consultations, and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Secretary General or delegated supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with communities, local government, NGOs, or development projects is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the Erakor community, customs, and local governance structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good report writing and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email).
  • Fluency in English, French and Bislama (knowledge of local languages is an advantage).

Employment Conditions

  • Temporary contract.
  • Salary will be based on the SPGC salary scale and the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for community meetings and events.
