Team Leader – Pacific Girl Program

CARE International in Vanuatu has a focus in Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Inclusive Governance and Emergency Response and Recovery.

We are looking for an individual with Team Leader experience to join the Pacific Girl Program. This position is based in Tanna with significant travel required to islands within Tafea Province and occasional travel to Port Vila. This role may also line manage short-term contractors, secondees from local partners and volunteers.

The major responsibilities will be varied and will include:

  • Contributing to CARE in Vanuatu overall Program Strategy and Leadership
  • Team Management; overseeing and managing team and Community Facilitators session delivery
  • Coordination of joint plannings for all Pacific Girl project activities
  • Ensuring coordination of Pacific Girl Program activity implementations in Tafea Province and Port Vila, and is aligned with project proposals, approved workplans and budgets
  • Ensuring implementation of activities do no harm, is in line with CARE safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Producing high quality oral and written reports (in English) on project progress, including donor reports meeting datelines.
  • Budget Management; Ensuring efficient and proper use of project funds in line with the approved budgets for Pacific Girl activities and able to support with tracking and managing project expenditures
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning; ensure relevant information gathered for reporting and provide input into reports and case studies that illustrate project progress and
    impact

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Gender Studies, Community Development, or
    equivalent projects and/or minimum 4-5 years relevant work experience, preferably in
    community based development work and/or activity implementation with an International Non-
    Government Organisation (INGO);
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of community projects
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and
    influencing skills
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading, people management and motivating a team
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, training skills in Bislama and very good in English;
  • Ability to coordinate this technical function(s) and implement procedures and processes, with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment;
  • Ability to develop high quality, concise reports and submission with accuracy;
  • Demonstrated honesty, maintaining confidentiality, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Representational skills including developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively with communities and vulnerable groups including at risk youth and children;
  • Proven ability in managing a budget and/or cash;
  • Fully conversant in Microsoft Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel;
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including diversity and cultural sensitivity.
