Part-Time SMALL MOTOR MECHANIC
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical issues with small engines through visual inspections, testing, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and spark plug inspections.
- Disassemble and reassemble engines to replace defective parts, such as pistons, valves, and carburetors.
- Repair or replace damaged components, including belts, bearings, gaskets, and seals.
- Adjust engine timing, fuel mixture, and ignition systems to optimize performance.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts inventory.
- Provide estimates for repair costs and communicate effectively with customers regarding the status of their equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with machinery and hazardous materials.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices for small engine repair.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing small engines, including two-stroke and four-stroke models.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with hand and power tools commonly used in small engine repair.
- Attention to detail and precision in performing repairs and adjustments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy equipment and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to small engine repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational training program or apprenticeship in small engine repair is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on job location and responsibilities.
