Full-Time SHORT HAUL TOURISM MARKETING MANAGER

The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) is the national tourism destination marketing organisation. Our role is to promote Vanuatu as a destination for international and
domestic tourists.

About the role
The VTO requires the services of a Short Haul Tourism Marketing Manager. This Port Vila-based position is open to all Vanuatu nationals. This position will be offered on a contract basis with a salary package to reflect the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The Short Haul Marketing Manager reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for planning and implementing the 2030 Destination Marketing Plan (DMP) for the short-haul markets of Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Developing and implementing the DMP, especially the recovery marketing priorities for short-haul markets.
  2. Co-ordinating marketing and promotional activities including advertising, travel shows, trade fairs, seminars and workshops.
  3. Liaising with advertising agencies to promote and manage the destination brand and tagline.
  4. Managing the delivery of the annual work plans of VTO’s short-haul marketbased representatives, in line with the 2030 DMP.
  5. Liaising with VTO’s short-haul market representatives to implement tourism marketing activities in each market, including attendance at trade fairs and
    exhibitions, familiarization trips, and content development.
  6. Preparing and distributing promotional material and marketing collateral for the destination for all short-haul markets.
  7. Collaborating with the travel trade and airlines to prepare and implement joint marketing campaigns in all short-haul markets.
  8. Managing the budget of the short-haul marketing program and reporting on expenditure in each market on a monthly basis.
  9. Preparing quarterly and annual reports for the Chief Executive Officer on the implementation and performance of VTO’s marketing activities across all shorthaul markets.
  10. Any other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, international business, economics, public relations or a closely related field.
  • Five years’ experience in marketing, international business, sales and/ or public relations roles, or a combination of training and on-the-job experience which provides the requisite abilities , skills, and knowledge.
  • Proven experience in providing leadership, strategic development and performance management.
  • Excellence in customer service, planning, supervision and co-ordination.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and work with a team.
  • Computing skills in all current Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bislama. Proficiency in French will be highly regarded.
  • High-level current knowledge of Vanuatu’s tourism industry.
