Full-Time SHELTER TECHNICAL COORDINATOR

Job Description

The Shelter Technical Coordinator will be responsible for technical oversight and coordination of all field base shelter activities. Shelter activities will include ensuring that staff have the capacity to deliver good quality shelter awareness raising within communities; and ensuring that staffs are trained to deliver the Shelter focal point model into the CDCCC and there is knowledge transfer between the Shelter Focal Points and the CDCCCs the communities.

Your responsibilities will be varied and will include;

  • Contribute to the development and updating of safe community, resilient community strategy, focusing on the shelter component;
  • Provide technical advice on planning for all safe community, resilient community shelter activities in Tafea;
  • Participate in the development of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) plan;
  • Ensure that the team gathers relevant shelter information using the tools developed with the Program Quality Team, and according to the MEAL plan;

You will have;

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Community Development, or equivalent projects and/or minimum 4-5 years relevant work experience in shelter
    programming with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the shelter context in Vanuatu, and in community based emergency shelter responses;
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills;
  • Ability to develop high quality, concise reports and submission with accuracy;
  • Demonstrated honesty, maintaining confidentiality, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Representational skills including developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively with communities and vulnerable groups including at risk youth and children;
  • Proven ability in managing a budget and/or cash;
  • Fully conversant in Microsoft Office applications with keyboard/ data entry and numeracy skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including diversity and cultural
    sensitivity.
