Organization Description:
The Nasi Tuan Association (NTA) was founded on Tanna Island, Vanuatu, in 2009, and registered as a charitable society in July 2010. It has worked with, supported local farmers in growing coffee, peanuts, vegetables and spices. As part of its long term sustainability strategy, NTA established Tanna Garden Community Company (TGCC) with the main goal is to increase the quality of life and self-sufficiency of households including the most vulnerable groups in Tanna . The overall aim of the project is to address the underlying causes of the modern slavery on Tanna through awareness, raising and advocacy and to empower farm-based household to improve their income and quality of life. This project is being implemented using funds provided through Tear Fund including funding from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT) and Vanuatu Care International Funding and including funding from The Australian Ministry of Foreign affairs (DFAT). The goal of the overall Programme is that vulnerable households are protected from modern slavery and economical self-sufficient.
Position of Description – Senior Finance and Accountant Officer
The Senior Finance and Accountant role is to work closely with Managing Director and Donors partners by overseeing Nasi Tuan Administrative, strategic financial, and risks management operations of the Nasi Tuan Enterprises and Charitable Association. This will include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control system designed to preserve Nasi Tuan assets and report accurate financial results. The Senior Finance and accountant’s key role is to oversee the implementation of the financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of both Nasi Tuan firms (Enterprises and Charitable Association).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver timely and accurate financial services, including:
o Balance Sheet Reconciliations
o General Journal Entries
o Monthly and Annual Reporting for Nasi Tuan and external partners.
o Monthly Variance Analysis (budget vs actual)
o Budgeting and Forecasting.
o Management of Fixed Assets
Oversee and assist where required:
o Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Functions.
o Payroll functions, including payroll taxes.
- Provide mentoring support for Accounts Payable and other financial functions.
- Provide clear overview of project funding including establishing and maintaining systems for allocation of partner/donor funds to projects.
- Ensure external audit requirements are understood and met, including:
o Appropriate internal controls and segregation of duties.
o Delegated authorities are understood and adhered to.
- If required, write and review business cases.
- Ensure fit for purpose finance systems, policies and procedures.
- Ensure Compliance with any Tax obligations.
- Oversee the financial operations of Nasi Tuan Enterprises and Charitable Association
o Assist in formulating the Nasi Tuan organization's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
o Develop financial performance measures that support the Nasi Tuans strategic direction
- Ensure Nasi Tuan’s Misson and Core Values are upheld.

Experience
- 4+ years’ experience in accounting, financial management, budgeting, analysis and reporting, business management
- Strong Excel and knowledge of accounting packages (preferably Xero).
- Confidence working with management.
- Experience managing a small team.
Qualifications
- Accounting or finance degree.

Salary: Depending on experience and qualification
Selection Criteria:
- A Tertiary Qualification from an accredited university;
- 3 or more years related work experience in financial and accounting management and administrative services;
- Some experience in supervising
- Should have working knowledge of accounts payable/ receivable and understand internal control;
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills
