The Opportunity
The USP, Emalus Campus is seeking to appoint reliable Security Officers to provide security services. Duties include but are not limited to: Keeping Emalus Campus facilities safe against trespass, theft, vandalism, fire or natural disaster; preventing and deterring crime by observation or confrontation of unfriendly circumstances and; maintaining a secure friendly environment to the University community. The appointees will be a part of a team of security officers rostered to work on shifts at certain areas around the campus and will be responsible to keep the allocated areas safe at all times.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- At least 3 years work experience preferably in the security services or relevant area of work.
- Applicants must be able to read and follow routine instructions, give reports and complete simple forms.
- Ability to speak/understand basic English and work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision is required.
- Demonstrate possession of superior attention to detail and observation skills
- Computer literate with a good command of MS Office
- Able to work flexible hours
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Physically fit
- Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong communications skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation

Preference will be given to applicants who have:
Completion of Junior Certificate (Form 4) without work experience Or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities in security work
- Valid drivers license
- Health and safety qualifications
- The ability to perform duties properly, promptly and willingly with respect for the rights of others and with minimal supervision.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: VUV 466,440 to VUV 921,211 per annum
