Job Description
AJC is looking for a Sandblaster / Painter for their Client, Société de Services Pétroliers
Position Title: Sandblaster / Painter
Reporting to: General Manager and / or Workshop Manager
Role Purpose:
To provide a support role for work undertaken on site and in the workshop
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Sandblaster/Painter working on hazardous petrochemical sites during surface preparation and coating work.
- Able to perform all surface preparation work (re. sandblasting) and coating application to industry QA standards.
- Able to perform surface preparation and coatings testing to industry standards.
- An interest and good knowledge of general engineering and practices.
- Able to work with machinery and other hand tools used in the Engineering industry.
- Able to work quickly and efficiently.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Has initiative to highlight potential hazards and issues.
- Has attention to detail and is able to concentrate for long periods of time.
DUTIES:
- Sandblast/paint heavy equipment and steel works such as pipework, stairways, valves etc associated with the petrochemical industry using sandblasting and spray gun equipment, either at our workshop or on site.
- Understand & complete all works to the JSA/Permit conditions for petrochemical site for industry’s standard coating applications.
- Clean and prepare surface for painting, using air-powered sandblasting equipment.
- Apply paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfaces.
- Select paints according to colour schemes and specifications.
- Stirs paint, pour paint into spray container, and applies primer or finish coat of paint, using spray gun.
- Where paint areas are inaccessible to spray gun, using paint brush.
- Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean equipment, using solvent, wire brushes and dry cloth.
- To ensure all areas are kept clean and tidy.
- To ensure all hazards are identified and report any issues to Health and Safety Manager.
- To work with the project manager, staff and customers in a polite and professional manner at all times.
- To communicate any issues to the appropriate person.
- To represent Ewing’s in a positive manner at all times.
- Any other roles as can reasonably be expected you to undertake taking into account your skills and experience.
