Position Title: Safeguarding Technical Advisor
Contract Duration: 2 years full time
Position Location – Port Vila

World Vision Vanuatu (WV) is a Christian humanitarian organisation dedicated to work with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Since 1981, we have been working to transform communities through program delivery in education, health care, water, sanitation & hygiene, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods. In line with the Vanuatu Government’s National Sustainable Development Plan (2016-2030), World Vision – in partnership with communities – deliver programs that are relevant, cost-efficient, effective and make a lasting difference. Community development is a key focus of World Vision Vanuatu, with 80% of our staff based in the communities where we work.

The purpose of this position is to:

– Provide effective technical support for World Vision Vanuatu’s (WVV) “Men Be the Change” project, including ensuring the implementation of appropriate safeguarding mechanisms for World Vision staff, all project participants, and their families during project implementation.

– Providing strategic guidance and, in collaboration with the WVV Ending Violence Portfolio Manager, leadership for all aspects of World Vision Vanuatu’s (WVV) Ending Violence programming including any cross-cutting child and adult safeguarding support delivered to other portfolios.

– Building the capacity of WV Vanuatu, including staff, systems, and processes, to respond appropriately to child and vulnerable adult protection issues in a way that is contextually appropriate and consistent with the WVI Partnership requirements.

– Building and maintaining partnerships nationally and internationally to ensure that WVV retains its strong reputation as a partner of choice for government, donors and local organizations, documented and accessible to all partners

– Be an active member of World Vision International’s technical teams, specifically WVI’s Regional Ending Violence Against Women and Children (EVAWG) and Child and Adult Safeguarding and Protection networks, ensuring that WVV is following best agency and international practice.

– Providing strategic guidance and leadership for all aspects of any safeguarding / protection case management that may arise in conjunction with World Vision Vanuatu’s (WVV) Ending Violence portfolio work, including support to ensure that WVV’s ITAW Rispek Campaign continues to be robust and fit for purpose.

– Support the Ending Violence Portfolio Manager when drafting project reports, baselines and evaluations for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the high technical quality implemented on the ground is well.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in social work, counselling or a similar relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication – fluency in English required.Excellent oral and written (English)
  • Relational skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment
  • Strong planning, organisational and project management skills and ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain calm and work under pressure to strict deadlines. Ability to work gracefully under pressure.
  • High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook or similar database, email and Internet.
  • Aability to analyse and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate.
  • Demonstrated high quality reporting and reviewing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with autonomy, whilst working within a team to deliver high quality team products
  • Demonstrated technical experience in implementing monitoring and evaluation theory, processes, and systems
  • Experience in programme or project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing
  • Demonstrated experience in adaptive leadership, continuous improvement, capacity building through collaborative learning.
