Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Retail Assistant and Tour Guide to join our team at 83 Islands Distillery. In this multifaceted role, you will be the face of our distillery, guiding visitors through our world of rum while managing our retail space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct informative and engaging tours of our distillery, sharing knowledge about our rum-making process,history, and the unique aspects of Vanuatu’s rum culture.
- Provide exceptional customer service in our retail area, assisting visitors with purchases of our rums and merchandise.
- Educate visitors on our rum varieties, helping them understand and appreciate the flavours and stories behind each bottle.
- Handle transactions and manage the retail area, ensuring it is well-stocked, organised, and welcoming
- Work closely with the distillery team to stay informed about product updates, promotions, and events.
- Assist in organising and managing distillery events and tastings. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during tours.
Qualifications:
- Experience in retail, hospitality, or tour guiding, with a passion for customer service.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups of people.
- Knowledgeable about rum or willingness to learn about the distillation process and our products.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions; experience with cash registers and point-of-sale systems
- High school diploma; additional qualifications in tourism, hospitality, or related field are desirable
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must meet Vanuatu’s legal requirements for employment.
