The National Library and Archives of Vanuatu, under the Vanuatu Cultural Centre is soliciting application from experienced and qualified persons to the following position.
Job Title : Preservation and Digitization Officer
Agency : Vanuatu Cultural Centre
Location : Port Vila
Annual salary : 1,573,624 VT
Salary scale: PS 5.1
Purpose:
The Preservation and Digitization Officer will provides the expertise, services and necessary direction to enable the NAV and NLV to successfully preserve its archival and documentary heritage, including preparation, conservation and reproduction. She/he will be responsible for
the overall development and administration of the NAV and NLV preservation program for all
material formats in both holding Collections. She/he will be specifically responsible for the
preservation and digitization of Vanuatu’s documentary heritage held in various formats within
the NAV, NLV and VKS.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizes and manages the Preservation and Digitization Program of the National Library and
Archives, including defining needs, establishing goals, objectives, and plans; preparing program
budgets; as certain collection management preservation priorities and apply appropriate
preservation techniques and selection criteria; assist with emergency preparedness program, in particular, in compliance with PARBICA Toolkits and other relevant standards and define policies and procedures for use of technical systems to support preservation activities.
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in librarianship, IT or related field
Special Skills:
- Organisational skills and communication skills, writing skills and Computer skills
- Thinking Style –Practical and creative thinker
- Behavioural Competencies –Be of good character, have patience and enjoy working with people
- Language –High level proficiency in spoken and written English, Bislama and French
preferred.
