Job Description

The Vanuatu Qualifications Authority (VQA) is the national regulator of the post-school education and training (PSET) sector. The VQA regulates PSET courses and providers to ensure nationally approved quality standards are met.

The VQA is one of the key agents in the implementation of the national PSET Policy
2016-2020. The VQA is working in close collaboration with the Tertiary Education
Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Training and with PSET providers to achieve the PSET Policy vision of: A sustainable, well-coordinated and inclusive PSET system that maximises access to relevant and quality assured qualifications that lead to improved economic, social and cultural development opportunities for all.

Purpose of the Position is:

  • The Quality Assurance Officer Course Accreditation is to analyse accreditation applications submitted by PSET providers and make informed decisions based on
    analysis
  • S/he provides advice to providers on accreditation processes and how providers can meet accreditation criteria set by the Authority
  • Ensure the Vanuatu’s PSET Quality Assurance system is implemented through making certain that their PSET courses are accredited and are maintained in
    accordance to VQA standards
  • Assist in coordination of consultations, training and meetings on quality assurance activities
  • Stakeholders and PSET providers have knowledge on course accreditation
  • Provide support on quality assurance issues for post school education and training
  • Communicate to PSET providers and stakeholders the requirements of, accreditation of programs/courses, registration of qualifications, quality audit and recognition of
    non-formal learning
  • Register of accredited course/program is regularly updated, applications analysis and site visits are audited
  • Organize and carried Quality Assurance and Validation Committee is functioning and dealing with program/course accreditation matters

The Successful Candidate must meet the following Position criteria:

  • Bachelor degree and Certificate IV in the field of Education, Training & Assessment, Quality Assurance and/or closely related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching or dealing with quality assurance especially course accreditation
  • Expertise in the planning and undertaking of PSET providers quality audit
  • Experiences in analysis of documents, writing, reviewing and analysing reports, policies and procedures
  • Experience in organizing, coordinating and supporting committees and meetings, trainings and workshops
  • Demonstrate ability to analyse complex information and provide analysis to decision makers
  • Has knowledge on the operation of PSET systems and the National PSET Qualification Framework
  • Has understanding of industries existing in Vanuatu and an understanding on competency based training and assessment
  • Has knowledge on compliance and evidence based audit
  • Ability in working collaboratively with a colleagues and stakeholders
  • Computer literate and good command of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle sensitive information maintain certain levels of confidentiality
  • Takes initiative and is a strong procedural worker
  • Analytical and practical thinker
  • Excellent cooperative behaviour with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated person with high standards of personal excellence
  • Respect of self and others and commitment to work and in helping others
  • Time management and ability to prioritise multiple tasks as well as work under own initiative
  • Loyal to the company s/he works for

  • Fluent in English, Bislama or French
