Full-Time PROTECTION ENGINEER
Job Description
Vanuatu Utilities & Infrastructure Limited (A Pernix Group Company) is currently looking for a suitably Qualified Protection Engineer.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and Maintain Protection Schemes: The Protection Engineer designs and maintains protection scheme for the entire power system. This involves safeguarding against faults and disturbances to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
- Compile Standards: they compile standards related to design and maintenance procedures for protection systems, ensuring consistency and best practices.
- Evaluate Developments in Technology: The engineer investigates and evaluates developments in power systems protection technology, staying abreast of advancements.
- Monitor Capital and Maintenance Works: They monitor and report on capital and maintenance works related to protection systems.
- Procurement and Specifications: The engineer prepares specifications and evaluates tender procurement for protection and control equipment.
- Review Protection Designs: They review protection designs and schemes for various projects.
- Training and Consultation: The engineer trains and upskills personnel, consults with peers, and cooperates to optimize power systems.
- Fault Analysis and Stability Studies: They carry out power system faulty analysis and transient stability studies to design a stable power system.
- Supply System Governance: Developing appropriate supply system governance procedures.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate should have at least a Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.
- A minimum of Seven (7) years of work experience in power generating, transmission, or distribution utilities as an electrical engineer.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- A valid Group two (2) driver’s license (not provisional)
- In-depth understanding of power system analytical techniques and familiarity with project and contract management.
- Membership in a Professional Engineers Body.
