Job Description
Recruitment – EDF 11 VaVaC Project Officers
The Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Commerce, and Ni-Vanuatu Business would like to recruit two (2) project officers, one based in the Department of Industry, and one based in the Office of the Registrar of Cooperatives and Business Development Services. At the same time the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries, and Biosecurity are seeking to recruit three (3) project officers, one in the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, one in the Department of Livestock, and one in the Department of Biosecurity.
The selected officers will assist their respective Departments with all aspects relating to the Vanuatu Value Chain (VaVaC) programme, more commonly known as EDF 11. The VaVaC programme is a 5-year budget support programme, between the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade. The overall objective of the VaVaC programme is to achieve a strong rural economy which creates opportunities, enables the development of rural communities, and increasingly contributes to national prosperity. The specific objective is to contribute to equitable, broad-based, and sustainable economic growth, recovery, and resilience by promoting organisation, production, value addition, safety and quality, and trade in the coconut, beef and fruits and vegetables value chains.
The project officer’s activities will include project formulation for future tranches of the VaVaC, as well as supporting the coordination of project implementation.
The officers will be contract officers under the Vanuatu Value Chain programme. The contract will be for 12 months, with an option of an additional 12 months if both parties agree. There will be an annual wage of VUV 1.9m, plus VNPF contributions.
Requirements
The suitable candidate should have:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a related subject (economics, business, commerce, etc.)
- A minimum of 1.5 years in a similar position
- A high degree of analytical skills
- Computer literacy
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A high degree of financial literacy
- A strong work ethic
