Job Description

The project
The Elimination of Cervical Cancer across the Western Pacific (ECCWP) project aims to set Vanuatu on a path to eliminating cervical cancer, consistent with the World Health Organisation (WHO) strategy to eliminate cervical cancer worldwide by the end of the century.

This role will work with the lead Vanuatu implementing partner, Vanuatu Family Health Association, a charitable organization working in line with the government development strategy and guided by its commitments to the improved reproductive health of families and particularly young people, women and men. The project is to be led by The Centre for Research Excellence in Cervical Cancer Control (C4) partners, Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW), Kirby Institute UNSW Sydney, Australian Centre for Cervical Cancer Prevention (ACPCC), and Family Planning NSW, working closely with government and other local health implementation partners.

Position Summary
The Project Coordinator plays a key role in the Elimination of Cervical Cancer in the Western Pacific (ECCWP) project in providing high level practical and efficient project coordination for project teams and key stakeholders.

The role entails undertaking day-to-day project management, reporting and analytical support, developing communications, building key internal and external relationships, and reporting on project progress.

The role reports to the Deputy Executive Director, Vanuatu Family Health Association.

Accountabilities

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Undertake day-to-day project management, including input into project planning, delivery, monitoring and documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor the delivery of the ECCWP project to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
  • Partner with the Project Team and key stakeholders to assess and manage project risks and issues and propose possible solutions.
  • Provide a high level of proactive project support to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of Vanuatu Family Health Association and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health & safety of yourself or others.

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the proven capacity to take initiative and work independently within deadlines.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft office.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

Advantageous

  • Experience in managing public health implementation projects.
  • Interest and experience in reproductive health, particularly women’s health
  • Experience in managing community outreach program activity

This position will be offered on a fixed term contract basis of 3 years.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
