Full-Time PROGRAM COORDINATOR (JUSTICE)

Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) –  Port Vila, Efate

Job Description

About the Program:
The Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) – known locally as ‘Stretem Rod Blong Jastis Mo Sefti’ – is an integral part of Australia’s development assistance in Vanuatu, and has recently moved into its second four-year phase (2021-24). The program delivers joined-up policing and justice support through technical assistance and other support to the Government of Vanuatu and independent agencies to help improve policing, justice and community services in Vanuatu.

About the role:
The VAPJP Program Coordinator (Justice) will jointly lead, manage and coordinate Australian assistance under the program in close collaboration with the Program Coordinator (Policing) and Vanuatu counterparts, as well as support the Ministry responsible for overseeing justice agencies.

About you:
You will have significant professional experience or an equivalent blend of education and experience in law (or other relevant field) and development, with a demonstrated ability to successfully conceptualise, design and implement programs, at both management and strategic levels.

You are an analytical and practical professional leader with a substantial track record evidencing your ability to build, lead and sustain a diverse team in a challenging and uncertain development context. You can think strategically and analytically, allowing you to respond effectively to changing circumstances.

Your experience in all aspects of the program management cycle demonstrates your ability to effectively oversee the design and delivery of capacity development and skills transfer activities, and in doing so to work collaboratively with counterparts at a range of different levels. You are comfortable with providing strategic advice to a large and varied group of stakeholders and have excellent communication skills that will both enable you to successfully advocate for and represent the program across partner agencies within the justice sector in Vanuatu; and to deliver effective reporting on program performance.

You communicate effectively across cultures, and preferably have experience working in Vanuatu or the Pacific. You are familiar with international donor systems and understand key cross-cutting issues such as gender and social inclusion and their application to a development program.
