The Program
The Vanuatu Education Support Program Phase II supports the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) achieve its goal to ensure all children, including those with disabilities have access to a quality education through a well-managed devolved education system.
Fundamental for the provision of quality education is ensuring every classroom has an effective teacher. This involves providing teachers with professional development to strengthen their professional knowledge and practice. To ensure this happens, a range of systemic and provincial level initiatives are to be developed for rollout by the Education Services Division (ESD). The PD Coordinator will support the coordination and implementation of these professional development activities and monitor and report on their effectiveness.
The Position
The Professional Development (PD) Coordinator will support provinces to coordinate the development, roll out and monitoring of a range of professional development activities for teachers and school leaders within provinces. The PD Coordinator will work with provinces to establish professional learning communities to network teachers and school leaders so they can and share successful practices and support each other’s development.
Furthermore, the PD Coordinator will develop and maintain provincial training schedules, assisting with the coordination and communication of training programs through provinces to schools. The PD Coordinator will also support the MoET develop, coordinate, deliver and monitor systemic professional development programs and support MoET to explore new ways to facilitate teacher and leadership professional development.
The Person
The successful candidate will be Diploma qualified in Education (Primary) and possess previous experience teaching within a school environment. Furthermore, the successful candidate will demonstrate experience coordinating professional development activities at a school, provincial or national level and will have developed professional development initiatives at a school or system level.
The successful candidate will be a consultative individual with strong written and verbal interpersonal skills, who is able to self-manage project activities and maintain a high level of personal organisation. A strong knowledge of the English language and experience working within multilingual environments is essential.
This position is locally engaged. To be eligible, you must either be a Vanuatu National or an International living and located in Vanuatu with a current right to work, valid for at least 9 months.
