EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
National Expert – National Industry Development Strategy Review
Ministry of Trade and Commerce (MTC) seeks expression of interest for a qualified individual to work as the National Expert to assist the International Expert to review the National Industry Development Strategy (NIDS). The review of the policy is to enhance Vanuatu’s economic development by strategically supporting the most promising value – adding activities relevant to the context of NID (National Industrial Development).
The specific objectives of this assignment are:
- To review the National Industry Development Strategy (NIDS) and draft a revised policy document that will provide guidance and director for the sector over the period 2023-2027
- Assess the gaps and foresee the demand of the services inputs for the sector
- Assessments on the strategic competitiveness in domestic, regional and international markets, more emphasis will be on the Australian Market.
The interested person/individual is required to possess the following;
- A degree in economics, industrial economics, industrial development, public policy, or other relevant fields;
- Proven working experience in Vanuatu or other Pacific Island Countries
- Knowledge of economic or development policies and related sectors in Vanuatu or the Pacific
- Proven experience in undertaking economic and social development assessments in the industrial sector
- Excellent knowledge of industrial development, value addition, and issues affecting development growth in the Pacific
- Experience in development and review of economic or development policy
- Excellent communication and analytical and reporting skills
- Experience in stakeholder dialogue and national, provincial, and community-level participatory consultation processes
- Ability to organize and facilitate workshops and meetings
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bislama. A good understanding of French would be an advantage
