Job Description

Job Title: Marine Engineer (Tug Engine Maintenance and Repair)

Job Summary:

Ensure efficient and reliable operation of tugboat engines through maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Engine Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive measures.
  • Inspect engines to identify potential issues.

2. Troubleshooting and Repair:

  • Diagnose and fix engine problems.
  • Replace faulty parts and overhaul engines.

3. System Monitoring:

  • Monitor engine performance and maintain records.
  • Use systems to detect and address issues early.

4. Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow safety regulations and standards.
  • Implement safety protocols and stay updated on regulations.

5. Emergency Repairs:

  • Respond to engine failures and emergencies promptly.
  • Perform quick repairs to minimize downtime.

6. Inventory Management:

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.
  • Order supplies as needed for repairs.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Prepare performance and maintenance reports for management.

Qualifications:

Education: Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Relevant certifications considered.
Experience: Experience in marine engine maintenance and repair, especially tugboat engines.
Skills: Mechanical and technical skills, proficiency with diagnostic tools, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and knowledge of maritime safety standards.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in shipyards, onboard tugboats, or at port facilities.
  • Requires physical labor and working in confined spaces.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols; may work in challenging conditions and be on call for emergencies.
