Contract IT CONSULTANT

Job Description

The Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources (MLNR) is seeking to contract the services of a Consultant to design a Data Recovery Centre and upgrade IT Infrastructure. The Consultant will work closely with the MOL IT Section & OGCIO and also work towards transferring knowledge, skills and promote experience to IT staff within MLNR with lasting benefits so that they can contribute to successful implementations plus learn to maintain the systems independently.

The Consultant will be providing services to the Office of the Director General and the ITC Manager of the MLNR.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and skills: Education:

BSc/Master’s degree in Network Engineering or other related fields.

Be proficient and experienced in the implementation and management of the following technical disciplines:

  • Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards
  • Technical expertise of Microsoft Exchange 2007 onwards Microsoft Server / Active Directory, Microsoft Group Policy, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the DRC environment
  • Advance knowledge of VMware vSphere
  • Experience in SAN systems
  • Training Users
  • Experience preferred) Networking experience to include LANs, WANs and VPNs Cisco Experience (working with Firewalls, configuring VPNs, Layer-3 devices) Backup systems and solutions Cloud based systems

Language skills: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.

The assignment will be based in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The Consultant will be contracted for an initial period of 3 months starting in April 2021 through to June 2021.
