Job Description

The Vanuatu Tourism Office requires the services of an Information, Research & Data Manager to undertake key responsibilities within their organisation. This is a Program Manager position responsible to manage the program for tourism information, travel centre, surveys, data & insights. This position is open to all Ni-Vanuatu and is based in Port Vila. This position will be offered on a contract basis with a salary package to reflect the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. The Program Manager is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for planning, organizing and executing market research and surveys for the tourism in the tourism source markets
2. Development and implement effective dissemination of tourism data to industry, stakeholders and Partners
3. Facilitate data collection and insights for supporting domestic and international tourism through market research and surveys
4. Managing the operation of the travel and information centres to disseminate information and facilitate travel bookings for all consumers
5. Provide regular data insights to the tourism industry, stakeholders & partners on the product readiness of the industry
6. Development of contents for the travel centres for media, trade and industry to support marketing strategies for domestic and international tourism markets
7. Prepare and provide quarterly and annual reports to the Chief Executive Officer on the implementation of work activities
8. Any Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

Interested applicant must possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, marketing, international business, commerce or a closely related field
• 3 years’ experience in statistics, economics, commerce, marketing and or international business or any combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
• Have considerable experience in providing leadership, strategic development and performance management
• A high level of customer service, planning, supervision and coordination. Must be a self-starter with the ability to lead and work with a team
• Computing skills and knowledge of current Microsoft and other software applications
• Must be proficient in both written and spoken in the English language. French will be highly regarded and bishlama is definitely mandatory
• Knowledge of the tourism industry in Vanuatu and the geographic layout of the country in terms of tourism development priorities.
