Full-Time ICT SUPPORT OFFICER

Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits you to Join our dynamic and advancing Support Services team, in supporting our programs, contributing to lasting positive impact in the lives of children in Vanuatu.

The IT Support Officer will provide technical support for smooth operations of IT functions and resources across the Save the Children Head Office and all field offices in Vanuatu. The selected candidate will work in close coordination with Save the Children Australia’s IT Operations team to support the design, planning and implementation of the Pacific IT Improvements Project. In addition, the IT Support Officer will trouble shoot day to day IT issues in collaboration with provincial IT focal points and the SCA IT operations teams based out of Melbourne. IT Support Officer will support supply chains teams to effectively manage inventory of IT equipment, carry out preventive maintenance and advise on efficient use of IT infrastructure.
Day to day duties of IT Support Officer will include oversight and management of Windows based network functionality, response to internal and external queries, efficient and timely technical trouble shooting and resolution support, and effective management of IT equipment, networking, and internet access challenges.

Where you come in:
This is a full-time contract position reporting to the Support Services Coordinator within Supply Chain Team, based in Port Vila. The position will support supply chains teams to effectively manage inventory of IT equipment, carry out preventive maintenance and advise on efficient use of IT infrastructure. The ICT Officer will provide technical support for smooth operations of IT functions and resources across all field offices of Save the Children.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting IT Improvements by working with program leads and projects and staff in accordance with operating standards and ways to improve IT plans, in line with policies and procedures updated and are consistent with SC and country requirements in consultation with MO IT.
  • Effectively manage daily IT helpdesk and hardware tasks
  • Ensure that Incident Report around IT issues is reported immediately.
  • Provide timely technical assistance to all IT software and hardware queries
  • Email account maintenance according to IT policy and procedures
  • Ensure all systems are virus free and backup of server and data files are current
  • Provide capacity training to IT focal points and new users
  • IT resources are well maintained and used carefully.
  • Maintain up to date asset register of all IT equipment
  • Any other activities as may be required.

This role requires:

  • Degree in Information Communications &Technology or related discipline.
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience in IT work environment.
  • Minimum 3+ years of lead experience in a similar role.
  • Good working experience in trouble shooting, networking, configuring PCs and laptops, installing software/hardware, setting up emails, and anti-virus updating.
  • Knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining server, PCs, laptops, and printers.
  • High levels of attention to detail and quality
  • Good customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Good organisational, planning, and prioritising skills, and able to meet deadlines and can work in a team.
  • Training and capacity building of IT staff and end-users
  • Good working relations with IT service providers.
  • Good English communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible, able to respond to changing situations.
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment.
  • Self-motivated, confident, collaborative, and able to take initiative, and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Willing and happy to take extra responsibility assigned to upon request.
