Job title. HUMANITARIAN FOCAL POINT.
The position’s overall responsibility is to coordinate the humanitarian program in collaboration with the International Planned Parenthood Federation – Pacific Humanitarian Team (IPPF-PHT) and other humanitarian actors.
Our SRHiE program aims to improve health outcomes for populations affected by crises by decreasing preventable morbidity and mortality related to sexual and reproductive health by promoting mitigation and preparedness activities that raise awareness of emergency SRHR needs and integrating SRHR into emergency preparedness and response plans and policies.
Specific roles.
- Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Operations and the IPPF- HT to design, implement, and report on Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE) activities
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of the VFHA Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Advocate for the inclusion of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in national health and gender policies and relevant pathways
- Participate in national and provincial health and protection cluster coordination activities, serving as the liaison officer for SRHiE program-related meetings at both national and international levels as required
- In consultation with the Executive Director, establish and maintain relationships with national humanitarian coordination mechanisms, the MoH, other government departments, and donors to ensure the integration of humanitarian efforts into development programs
- Coordinate with the IPPF- HT and the MoH to prepare and implement SRH Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) training programs, and maintain a database and network of personnel trained in MISP
- Develop partnerships with organizations for people with disabilities, SGBV networks, and other diverse group networks
- Work with the Director of Programs, the Director of Finance, and the IPPF-PHT to develop proposals for humanitarian responses and ensure compliance with donor contract obligations
- Coordinate the procurement of pre-positioned items as approved by the VFHA Executive Director and the IPPF- HT, and lead the emergency response team in the field during emergencies
Management Arrangements.
This position is a full-time, two-year renewable role that reports to the Director of Programs and Operations. It requires close collaboration with program and clinical staff, MoH, NDMO, and will be based at the Vanuatu Family Health Association Head Office in Port Vila.
Personal specification.
- Degree in any social science or health with experience working with Government & Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in related work for not less than 3 years
- Project development and management skills
- Strong monitoring and analytical skills (including data management)
- Facilitation and negotiation skills, including conducting training and facilitating workshops
- Have sufficient skills in computer use
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Previous experience in Sexual Reproductive Health and/or Emergency Response will be viewed favorably
