OFFICE OF DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR AND VICE PRESIDENT (REGIONAL CAMPUSES & GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT), Estates and Infrastructure – VPV025
The position of Grounds man is a critical position created for the general day to day keep and maintenance of Campus grounds, infrastructure and general landscaping to a clean and tidy university standard and to provide a well-kept and friendly environment to Center staff, students, clients and visitors. You are expected to work in a team or with minimal supervision.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Skills and demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance; working in a team; Able to share ideas;
- Proper safety practices and procedures concerning the operation and power tools
- Knowledge and experience in general safety and security of equipment, assets, self, staff and students
- Knowledge of general cleaning keep and maintenance of grounds
- Knowledge and experience in landscaping , maintenance of drive way/ car park/ footpaths etc.
- Communication skills, read, write and understand English at a level necessary for the efficient job performance;
- Assist the public with scheduling facilities, and directing them to the proper source for assistance;
- A good record of punctuality
- Respect towards people regardless of race, gender, religion
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Completion of Junior Certificate (Form 4) without work experience Or an equivalent
combination of experience and training. - Working level knowledge of English writing & reading
- Other occupational health and safety certificate for a registered education provider
- First Aid Certificate
- Current drivers license

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: VUV 466,440 to VUV 921,211 per annum
