The Opportunity
The University of the South Pacific is seeking to appoint a building maintenance worker to provide a day to day maintenance of buildings and other structures on Emalus Campus and to ensure campus facilities are maintained at all times. The appointee will be part of a team of Grounds men rostered to work at certain areas on campus and will be responsible to keep the facilities well maintained.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Knowledge of methods and practice of building and grounds maintenance;
- Proper safety practices and procedures concerning the operation and power tools;
- Communicate, read, write and understand English at a level necessary for the efficient job performance;
- Assist the public with scheduling facilities, and directing them to the proper source for assistance;
- OHS awareness
- Deal tactfully and courteously with the public;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public;
- Working in a team or with minimal supervision
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Completion of Junior Certificate (Form 4) without work experience Or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Working level knowledge of English writing & reading
- Current driver’s license
- First Aid certificate
- Other occupational health and safety certificate for a registered education provider
- Basic electrical and plumbing skills

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: VUV 466,440 to VUV 921,211 per annum
