CARE International in Vanuatu has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Humanitarian Preparedness and Emergency Response.

CARE Vanuatu is working in partnership with the CANDO Church Network to undertake a project to support the Government of Vanuatu’s TC Harold Recovery program. The focus of this work is to strengthen Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion within planning processes.

To lead the implementation of activities under the TC Harold recovery project in partnership with CANDO Church Network, CARE is recruiting for a Gender and Protection Support Coordinator for this project.

Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:

  • Coordinate CARE engagement with the CANDO church network partners and government stakeholders to ensure project strategies are developed and rolled out in an inclusive and participatory way in line with government and project timelines
  • Support Gender Equality Project Manager to ensure project activities are planned and documented in the project implementation plan and costed work plan
  • Actively coordinate and implement the project MEAL plan and data collection and analysis processes.

Required qualifications and skills:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and/ or minimum 4-5 years relevant work experience, preferably in community based development work and/ or work to strengthen GEDSI with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO);
  • Proven experience working with networks or in engaging with large groups of stakeholders;
  • Proven experience in training and facilitation including at community level;
  • Excellent communication in Bislama and very good in English. Any knowledge of languages from any of the Provinces targeted on this project would be an advantage;
  • Ability to coordinate technical function(s) and implement procedures and processes, with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated high level of organizational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment;
  • Ability to develop high quality, concise reports and submission with accuracy;
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a diverse group of stakeholders and maintain positive relationships;
  • Demonstrated honesty, maintaining confidentiality, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Representational skills including developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively with communities and vulnerable groups including at risk youth and children;
  • Proven ability in managing a budget and/ or cash.
