Full-Time GENDER EQUALITY PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Job Description

The Gender Equality Portfolio Manager provides senior level leadership and management across the Gender Equality Program. The position involves the management and responsibility of a complex area of functional expertise including leading a team, program development, representation, financial accountability and management of a number of projects.

The position will also ensure that all direct reports actively participate in coordination mechanisms within the Port Vila and Tanna offices.

This position is based in Port Vila, with travel required to other sites (particularly Tanna).

Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:

  • Lead the development and review design of assigned projects within the Gender Equality Program including analysis, theory of change, developing project concepts and sourcing funding and partnership opportunities;
  • Together with the Program Director and relevant Project Managers, lead on the development of high quality project proposals for submission to donors;
  • Actively contribute to CARE Vanuatu’s long program term strategy implementation through engaging in workshops and review processes;
  • Demonstrate a passion for gender equality and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity, and inspire leadership on these issues through the CARE Vanuatu team; and
  • Support the integration of resilience and inclusive governance strategies within the gender equality program.
  • Work closely with the Partnership Manager and Gender Equality Program Managers to manage program partnerships within the gender portfolio.

You will have;

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with a gender equality and/or community development focus; and/ or 5-7 years relevant work experience, preferably for an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO)
  • Proven experience in managing projects through all stages of the project cycle
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading, people management and motivating a team
  • Strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor budgets and to manage cash
  • High level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment;
  • Proven understanding of working with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and a willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities
