Job Description

Role Purpose
The Finance Officer is responsible for providing assistance to the Finance Manager in terms of financial reporting and line management of the finance team. He/she will assist external financial relationship (including donors and Live & Learn partners).

Term: The successful candidate will be on probation for 3 months and performance reviewed before securing a contract which will be reviewed every year. Contract will be for one year, effective from the date it is signed after the 3-month probation period and may be renewed for further periods based on staff performance. Salary will be negotiated during the interview to commensurate qualification and experience.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for a Finance Officer who is knowledgeable and passionate about supporting field programs staff in Vanuatu:

  • Have more than 2 years of experience as a Finance Officer in a Non-Government Organisation or any organisation/institution.
  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Accounting or holder of Bachelor of Accounting/Finance degree with at least 4 years of experience in an Accountant’s role.
  • Maturity in judgement, flexibility, creativity, responsiveness, initiative, ability to take a considered approach, openness to learning, have a good sense of humour and an unconditional personal commitment to protect the natural environments and the many people depending on these for their survival.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Finance Officer is expected to perform the following duties

  • Keep accurate records for all daily transactions
  • Excellent knowledge on how to use MYOB Accounting package
  • Process wages and journalize in MYOB on a fortnightly basis
  • Process payment vouchers on a daily basis in MYOB
  • Manages petty cash and ensure all payments are being acquitted before replenishing
  • Scan and upload on MYOB all payment vouchers
  • Ensure all journals, vouchers, timesheets and other documents are filed properly
  • Check that all documents are in order for any budget requests and acquittals before submitting to Finance Manager for final approval
  • Organize banking and payment errands for every Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Assist in preparing documents for financial audit
  • Reports to Finance Manager
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
