Contract FINANCE ASSISTANT

The Finance Assistant will support the Manager finance in the management and financial reporting of funds related to programs within the country office. This includes the responsibility for the timely and accurate posting of all cash payment including salaries, and working with the finance team to ensure that finance duties are discharged in accordance with the Organisation’s financial controls.

Where you come in:
In this maximum-term position, based in Port Vila you will be part of the finance team, with in Support Service section, providing financial support to your work team and the organisation.

You will make an impact by:

  • Handle the daily preparation, filing and documentation of payment vouchers.
  • Record daily entries of expenditure & deposits.
  • Ensure all documents are properly sign and distributed.
  • Check all acquittals and financial reporting by field staff as they are submitted; verify financial and other data.
  • Monitor financial transactions.
  • Assist with account reconciliations.
  • Monitor and manage accounts with commercial suppliers. Ensure bills are paid in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Report the status of accounts and any variances.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by Finance manager.

…Your experience in accounting or finance roles, knowledge of the finance systems, able to work under pressure, accountable and committed performing to the highest standard. You have good are a self-starter and seeks advise as needed. You are self-motivated, flexible and driven to see results.

This role requires:

  • Year 13 qualification/s or higher of relevant and related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a finance officer or finance clerk
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial transactions
  • Familiar with financial regulations i.e., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of MS Office and databases. A working knowledge of MS Excel is a must.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Ability to solve financial conflicts.
