Full-Time FIELD TRAINER
Job Description
Vanuatu Indigenous Land Defense Desk (VILDD) is an NGO established and works in collaboration with Vanuatu Cultural Centre/Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta (VKS) which has a network of more than 100 fieldworkers throughout the country.
VILDD was established in 2003 in the wake of the country’s land boom. Customary lands were suddenly being sold off at alarming rates that took everyone by surprise. Essentially, people were being ripped off from their cultural heritage that had been theirs since time immemorial. Land being one of the major issues that sparked the independence movement in the late 1970s, this important source of identity, inspiration and social security has to be protected at all costs.
The Vanuatu Indigenous Land Defense Desk (VILDD) is looking for suitable candidate to fill in the position of its Field Trainer.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be at least 25 years of age and keep a tidy appearance;
- Full written and spoken proficiency in English and Bislama with an understanding of some French;
- Ability to work unorthodox hours as most times required and be ready to travel on short notice at any time. The Job Involves travelling throughout the Year.
- Ability to share knowledge and experience, identify and disseminate best practices, and work in multi-disciplinary teams;
- A demonstrated understanding and respect for Melanesian culture;
- A firm grasp of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, etc.) and sufficient experience in the design and production of information products (i.e., newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, policy briefs, press releases, etc.) for print media;
- Outstanding public speaking skills, listening skills and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work with partners, to influence without dominating, and gain and retain confidence in a personal ability to deliver on required outputs;
- Outstanding listening skills, verbal and written communications skills.
- Proven ability of delivering high quality outputs and managing complex tasks with minimal supervision.
