Position Title: Faith & Engagement Mentor
Contract Duration: 2 years full time
Position Location – Port Vila
World Vision Vanuatu (WV) is a Christian humanitarian organisation dedicated to work with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Since 1981, we have been working to transform communities through program delivery in education, health care, water, sanitation & hygiene, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods. In line with the Vanuatu Government’s National Sustainable Development Plan (2016-2030), World Vision – in partnership with communities – deliver programs that are relevant, cost-efficient, effective and make a lasting difference. Community development is a key focus of World Vision Vanuatu, with 80% of our staff based in the communities where we work.
The purpose of this position is to:
- Lead and mentor staff in the integration of faith and engagement in sector programming for all areas in which WV works, including regular monitoring of program faith approaches and provision of operational support.
- Represent WVV in meetings related to the faith sector, including at International, National, Provincial and community levels.
- Training and support to staff and sector participants in faith approaches within programming.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field – Master’s degree is desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication – fluency in English required.
- Relational skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with national staff and a passion for capacity building & organisational development.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes or similar database, email and Internet
- Aability to analyse and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate
- Experience in programme implementation, mentoring and training.
- Programming knowledge of a specific sector (Education, Water & Sanitation, Health, Agriculture and Social Work, Faith) an asset.
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively within Vanuatu, and to regional events as required.
