Job Description
Would you like to assist the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority (VQA) to certify uncertified workers through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for awards of VQF qualifications (RPL (Q))?
RPL is the generic term for formal assessment of an individual’s current knowledge and skills to confirm and recognize the learning outcomes s/he has already obtained in non-formal, informal, experiential, workplace and/or formal learning contexts towards the achievement of a formal qualification.
Expression of interest is sought for individuals (male and female) to apply to become RPL(Q) mentor and to participate in a RPL Mentors Capacity Building Workshop facilitated by the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority.
As an RPL(Q) Mentor your responsibilities will include:
Qualification Requirements:
(a) Assist the applicant(s) throughout the process of RPL (Q) by
i. Ensuring that the application is effectively completed;
ii. Supervising and instructing the applicant on how to self-assess and compare or map their prior learning to the Course Learning Outcomes;
iii. Explaining the applicable requirements and rules, to answer questions from the applicants and provide them with greater clarity when needed;
iv. Ensuring that the portfolio contains all the relevant documents;
v. Reviewing the portfolio compiled before it is submitted for evaluation;
vi. Determining the level of qualification to be assessed against is determined;
vii. Ensuring that applicant is well prepared for other assessments.
(b) A mentor must declare any conflict-of- interest s/he may have with an applicant.
Interested candidates must possess:
- A Vocational (i.e. Mechanical, building construction, construction, tourism and Hospitality, Finance etc.) qualification at level 3 or above
- A Certificate IV in Education (VET Teaching) or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or competencies in:
Plan assessment activities and processes
Assess competence
Participate in assessment validation or moderation
Design and develop assessment tools - A minimum of 3 years of work experience and current industry skills
