Full-Time ERROMANGGO (NAMETNOGI) FOREST CARBON PROJECT OFFICER

Job Description

Live and Learn Vanuatu (LLV) invites applications for the position of Erromanggo (NametNogi) Forest Carbon Project Officer based in Efate, Port Vila

Live and Learn Vanuatu (LLV) is a Non-Government Organisation, working with Communities in Vanuatu on Climate Change, Forest Protection and Restoration and WASH. More information on https://www.livelearn.org

The role- Erromanggo (NametNogi) Forest Carbon Project Officer is a key role in the provisions of a Forest Carbon Project for Erromanggo under Live and Learn Vanuatu’s Forest Carbon Programs.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  1. Commit to developing and excellent working knowledge of Climate Change and Forest Carbon
  2. Assist in delivery of Community Land Use Planning and Business Planning with target villages in Erromanggo participating in the NametNogi Forest Carbon project
  3. Coordinate the establishment of Forest Carbon Restoration Plots (i.e., plot design, budgeting for planting, monitoring and maintenance, assisting with carbon measurement etc)
  4. Contribute to the development of education, planning and capacity building materials, including facilitators guides and resources using multi-media
  5. Provide support to Live and Learn’s Forest Carbon Program through follow-up visits, establishing and maintaining networks
  6. Provide reports and acquittals on field work as required by the Live and Learn Good Practice Manual
  7. Undertake research in the areas of forestry and land use management as directed
  8. Build networks and partnerships with other agencies in accordance with the organisation objectives of Live and Learn and NametNogi, including with Government and non-government organisations and communities

Key Selection Criteria

  • Diploma in Agriculture, Forestry and or Social Development with a Business Management Major or Minor

Knowledge and Experience

  1. Sound Knowledge and experience in forestry, forest Science and/or agriculture.
  2. Basic Understanding of Forest Carbon but willingness and ability to develop a detailed knowledge.
  3. Proven ability and experience in workshop facilitation and giving presentations.
  4. Proven ability or write reports, develop budgets and prepare acquittals.
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  7. Ability to build networks and work effectively in partnership with government and non-government agencies, as well as with the Live and Learn team, both within Vanuatu and Overseas.
  8. Highly desirable; experience and demonstrated competence in the fields of agriculture and/or forestry, and business management.
  9. Project Management or Experience with Donor reporting’s.
  10. Erromanggo citizens are strongly encourage to apply and submit their applications.
