Announcement: Employment Opportunity Special Services Agreement (SSA) Coordinator – Gudfala Tut Skul Program
The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Coordinator – Gudfala Tut Skul Program. The successful applicant will be based in Ministry of Health of Vanuatu. The coordinator will coordinate/manage the day-today activities of Gudfala Tut Skul Program to meet the Implementation Schedule established in the 2020 GTSP Business Plan.
Job description:
Under the direction of the Head of the Integrated Oral Health, Eyecare and ENT Unit:
- Participate as a team member of the Unit
- Assist with development of a detailed implementation plan for GTSP 2021-2025 (DSSPAC)
- Act as the main contact for all implementation and maintenance tasks related
to GTSP - Take a major responsibility for communication between MOH and PCV Health, and all other GTSP stakeholders; between the GTSP at MOH, Ministry of Education, and individual schools and school communities
- Manage the logistics for each individual school implementation e.g., school permissions, staff, volunteers, materials, equipment, local travel arrangements, etc.
- Take responsibility for implementations of GTSP, including all on-site arrangements and administration tasks
- Schedule, manage and follow-up additional visits to schools as planned/
required - Arrange and conduct regular planning and update meetings with PCV Health and other key stakeholders
- Draft MOH requests/orders to PCV Health for GTSP School Starter Packs and GTSP School Term Packs, and provide implementation assistance and any additional supplies
- Conduct (or participate in) post implementation, evaluation, and process improvement sessions
- Assist MOH, PCV Health, Medical Sailing Ministries Inc., and other stakeholders in all GTSP activities
- Provide monthly reports (or interim reports when requested) on implementation progress
- Promote the GTSP to various parties and at public health promotion activities
- Produce regular newsletters for distribution to Minister of Health, Director of Public Health, Sponsors, WHO, School Principals, PCV leadership and other recipients determined by the Head of the Integrated Unit
- Undertake other duties related to GTSP as requested by the Head of the
Integrated Unit
Subject to the agreement of both parties, these terms of reference may be modified from time to time, as required in the interest of the project/activity.
The signatory will primarily work under the direction of and will report to the WHO Medical Officer for NCD and report to the Ministry of Health of Vanuatu.
Educational and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Oral health, Nursing, and Medicine.
- Up to 7 years of experience in health prevention efforts.
- Past experience in project development/implementation
- High level of written and verbal communication skills (Bislama and English)
- Knowledge and ability with technology (Email, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher)
- Comfortable speaking in both one-to-one and group situations
- Newsletter writing experience, including basic photography skills
- Demonstrated record of working within a ‘team’
- Willingness to acquire a basic knowledge in oral health promotion, education, and prevention
Additional skills and experience that would be an advantage
- Familiarity with the MOH working environment
- Basic knowledge/qualifications/experience in oral health e.g., dental surgery assistant
Details of the proposed position:
- Salary for this position will be equivalent to a Public Service scale (PS 7.1) on annual salary of 2,202,300VT
- Duration of position: one year (subject to performance and funding)
- The person will be provided office space and necessary office equipment in the Ministry of Health
