About the Role
We are growing our tech team and looking for an AWS DBA who can be our subject matter expert! The successful applicant will utilise their AWS cloud computing expertise to meet the needs of internal & external clients using cloud native tools. The ideal candidate has experience in a DBA role currently, along with a strong desire to learn all the databases in AWS. Each internal project represents a new challenge that will provide exposure to new business issues, technologies, and people. Responsibilities will include:
- Developing solutions using cutting edge AWS database technologies
- Conducting research on differing approaches to data storage in AWS.
- Knowledge of AWS Database Migration Service
- Learning all aspects of AWS Databases and storage patterns to include, Amazon Aurora, Glue, Relational Database Service (RDS), Dynamo, Redshift, Neptune, TimeSeries, Elasticache and Document DB.
- Solving issues by designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions.
- Partnering with full stack development teams to create databases in AWS using a DevOps mindset and principles.
- Developing data migration plans to migrate legacy on-premises & cloud databases into AWS data stores.
- Working on indexing, replicating and performing disaster recovery services across multiple AWS regions.
- Writing, designing, testing, implementing and maintaining database applications using SQL or other database programming languages.
- Assisting in creating architecture and develop modular software components.
- Monitoring system performance metrics to identify potential risks/issues.
Qualifications
- Hands on experience with Amazon Aurora
- Experience with AWS DynamoDB (preferred or NoSQL)
- Current hands on working knowledge of AWS Databases such as RDS, RedShift, Aurora.
- AWS Certified Developer Associate (preferred) – training support available with
TitanFX - AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate or Professional (preferred) – training support available with TitanFX
- Interest in being involved internally and growing a small business (entrepreneurial spirit)
- Ability to travel from Port Vila, Vanuatu office as needed to Melbourne office, or elsewhere.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Excellent drive, peer management, and communication skills
- Management consulting experience (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
