Job Description
The NUV is currently developing the framework to establish its School of Engineering and Technology which will a be a key component of the National University of Vanuatu by producing knowledgeable and prepared future leaders in Technology and innovation and partnering with government, external academic institutions, and the private sector to deliver practical and contextually appropriate solutions.
A feasibility study has been conducted in 2020 on ICT needs for Vanuatu which emphasized the need to provide training courses that will build Information and Communication Technologies’ skills and competences needed for the implementation of the Information and knowledge-based society in Vanuatu.
This consultancy has for purpose to give directions to NUV for the development of a “homegrown” NUV program, Diploma level with an exit point at certificate level, in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
In order to carry out the mission, the consultant will have to progress based on three steps:
- Feasibility study
Following the first feasibility study done in 2020, the consultant will have to consult institutional stakeholders, private sector and ICT industry to gather their views for the development of a new NUV course in the field of ICT considering the national priorities stated in the NHRD Plan. - New course Proposals
Propose at least 2 formats for the new course considering that students can enter in a variety of ways, regular students and through life-long learning process. - Full program Design
Propose a full program design including summary and details of courses, list of potential staff, budget allocated.
Each step will need to be endorsed by the leadership of NUV requiring formal approval to continue. Carrying out this study requires the mobilization of high-level expertise, having knowledge of the Vanuatu context and the NUV interlocutors.
