Full-Time COMMIS CHEF
Job Description
Ramada Resort by Wyndham Port Vila (RBWPV) is seeking a suitable candidate to appoint for the following position.
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Executive Chef with food preparation, maintaining high kitchen standards, and ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen while delivering quality meals to our guests.
Commis Chef
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Commis Chef is responsible for assisting with food preparation, preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, and supporting the kitchen team in daily operations.
The Commis Chef will also ensure that all food items are stored correctly and that food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and follow instructions while complying with food health and safety regulations.
Commis Chef Responsibilities
- Accurately measure and prepare meal ingredients.
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and seasoning vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items.
- Assist with the preparation of salads, sauces, and basic menu items.
- Receive deliveries and verify that all ordered items are received in good condition.
- Monitor kitchen supplies and notify the Executive Chef of low or depleted stock.
- Ensure all food items are stored correctly to minimise spoilage.
- Discard expired or spoiled food items from refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitised work area at all times.
- Assist with plating and presentation of meals according to kitchen standards.
- Report any faulty or damaged kitchen equipment.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
Abilities / Skills
- Basic knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation, kitchen equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- High standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
