Full-Time CHIEF HELICOPTER PILOT

Helicopter Support –  Port Vila, Efate

Job Description

Helicopter Support is a Vanuatu based company providing Helicopter Services to Vanuatu islands with the main base in Port Vila.

Position Summary

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Chief Helicopter Pilot to lead and mentor a team of helicopter pilots fostering a culture of safety and professional development.

The Chief Helicopter Pilot will be responsible for planning and executing flight missions, including emergency medical services, search and rescue, law enforcement, or other specialized operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all helicopter flight operations.
  • Ensure all flights are conducted in compliance with pre-established flight plans and operational protocols.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and proficiency checks for pilots to ensure skills and knowledge are current.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety management systems to mitigate operational risks.
  • Maintain and review flight logs, maintenance records, and operational checklists to ensure compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Liaise with maintenance teams to ensure all helicopters are airworthy and properly maintained.
  • Prepare reports on flight operations, incidents, and pilot performance for management review.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of flying experience with a focus on helicopter operations.
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours long-line sling.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours twin engine.

Minimum Certifications

  • Valid ICAO (Australian) ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) with Helicopter rating; ICAO MECIR (H).
  • Current CASA Class I medical certificate.
  • Additional certifications relevant to specific operational needs (e.g., mountain flying, etc.)
  • Dangerous Goods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautical science, or a related field.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs dictate.
  • May involve flying in adverse weather conditions and varied environments.
