Job Description

The Vanuatu Tourism Office is pleased to announce a Call for Expression of Interests for a highly qualified and successful Photographer/Videographer to be responsible for capturing the essence and diversity of the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival through a series of short clips and other photos that can be used in various communications platforms for the International, Corporate and Domestic Market.

We are inviting all interested individuals/organizations to submit their Expression of Interest for consideration.

a. The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO)
The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) is the National Tourism Destination Marketing Organization. Our headquarter is based in Port-Vila (Vanuatu) supported by various representations in Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and other long-haul markets in Europe, China, and North America. Our role is to promote Vanuatu as a destination for International and Domestic tourists.

b. The idea around the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival
The Melanesian Arts & Culture Festival has not only been a celebration of art, music, dance, and storytelling, but also a platform for cultural exchange, unity, and understanding. It has strengthened the bonds between our Melanesian brothers and sisters, fostering a deeper appreciation for our collective identity.

The 7th Melanesian Arts and Culture Festival is more than just a cultural event; it is a celebration of the diversity, richness, and vibrancy of Melanesian traditions and customs. As a platform for the exchange of cultural knowledge, the festival offers an opportunity for Melanesian Spearhead Group member states and their Pacific partners and allies to showcase and celebrate their unique cultural identities. By bringing together artists, performers, and cultural practitioners from across the region and around the world, the festival serves as a reminder of the important role that culture plays in shaping our shared human experience. Through this celebration of customs, culture, and traditions, the festival helps to promote regional cooperation, mutual understanding, and appreciation for the rich diversity of the Pacific.

The 7th Melanesian Arts & Culture Festival will be held in Port Vila, Vanuatu on July 19-31, 2023.

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work is now made available to allow Persons with sets of skills of Videographer and Photographer to delivery on the work measured using a milestone of photography and Filming content approach as follows:

  • Filming /photography of the Melanesian Arts and Cultural dances and activities through the two long weeks of Festival.
  • 10 x 30 seconds vertical clips (TikTok video)
  • 150 images
  • All Footage must be received no later than 04th of August 2023, to the Manager Long Haul and Emerging Domestic Markets, Mr. Martin David, via a USB drive or shared through a safe network shared drive.
  • The Photographer and Videographer must create its own original music content and approve by the internal team as a non-copyright music.

OBJECTIVE

The significance of this call for expression of interests lies in its aim to capture and document the Melanesian Arts and Cultural dances and activities during the festival.

The visual content created will serve multiple purposes:

1. Promotion: The clips and images will be used to promote the festival itself, attracting visitors, participants, and sponsors. The engaging and visually appealing content will showcase the unique cultural aspects of the festival, encouraging people to attend and participate.

2. Documentation: The footage and images will serve as a historical record of the festival, preserving the cultural heritage and traditions associated with Melanesian Arts and Cultural dances. This documentation is valuable for future generations, researchers, and cultural preservation efforts.

3. Online engagement: By creating TikTok video clips, the organizers aim to tap into the growing popularity of short-form video platforms and social media. These clips can be shared widely, reaching a larger audience and generating interest and excitement about the festival.

4. Non-copyrighted music: By requiring original music content, the organizers ensure that the promotional materials do not infringe any copyright laws. It allows for greater flexibility in using the content across various platforms without legal complications. Overall, the call for expression of interests seeks to capture and present the richness and diversity of the 7th Melanesian Arts and Cultural dances and activities. The visual content created will play a vital role in promoting, preserving, and celebrating the festivals through our online platform as a Tourism Destination Marketing.
