Advocacy & Communications Manager

As our Advocacy and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing creative strategies to engage and mobilize stakeholders, amplify our message, and advocate for our cause. As an Advocacy and Communications Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our advocacy strategy to ensure maximum impact for children.

Where you come in:
In this full-time position, based in Port Vila, you will provide strategic analysis of key issues, leverage project impact to create positive change for children, and create a platform for children’s voice to be heard on key development issues.

You will make an impact by:

  • Developing and implementing Save the Children Vanuatu’s Advocacy Strategy to create lasting change for children
  • Co-creating campaigns at national and global levels with children and youth activists
  • Implementing advocacy activities and creating opportunities for advocacy and change in collaboration with thematic advisors and program teams
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including Save the Children’s Australia Policy Unit, government stakeholders, civil society representatives, UN, INGOs, and Academia
  • Supporting Save the Children’s engagement in regional and global advocacy efforts
  • Overseeing the implementation of the Communications Strategy and the development and dissemination of relevant situational reports/materials
  • Developing and implementing media strategy/guidelines, establishing proactive and
    beneficial relationship with media houses and providing assistance in the content and layout of communications materials

This role requires:

  • Ability to multi task, work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines, responsive to
    external requests and strong team player.
  • Experience influencing opinions and managing multiple social media and online platforms
  • Ability to write, review and edit reports and products (in English) for dissemination and publications.
  • Experience identifying target audiences and devising promotional and advocacy strategies to engage, inform and motivate current and potential partners
  • Willing and able to travel widely in country to support field teams
  • Experience managing communications for emergency response to inform, influence and educate.
  • Experience designing and implementing communication and public relation strategies for private and public sector
