Contract ACCOUNTANT
Job Description
Utilities Regulatory Authority (URA) is advertising to recruit an Accountant. The Accountant position is a permanent position with the URA and will be subject to a six (6) months probation period.
Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A Degree or Master Degree in Accounting and CPA certification is highly desirable
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in an accounting firm or business or Non-Government Organisation (NGO)
- Demonstrated experience and ability in financial record management with proven capabilities in maintaining, organising and analysing financial records and information.
- Proficiency use of Accounting Software and systems such as MYOB and Xero Accounting to record and maintain financial transactions
- Good understanding of the Vanuatu Government Budgetary preparation and processes
(MBC etc) is an advantage. - Manage and maintain a payroll system and asset register
- Develop and issue a Corporate Annual Budget
- Effectively manage and maintain petty cash
- Is punctual and has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good command of writing and speaking in English and Bislama; French is an advantage

About the Utilities Regulatory Authority
The URA was set up under the Utilities Regulatory Authority Act No. 11 of 2007 (as amended). The Authority acts independently of the Government and its primary purpose is to increase access to safe, reliable, and affordable electricity and water services, and to promote the long-term interests of consumers throughout Vanuatu. In addition, the Authority assists in resolving consumer complaints and disputes and advises the Government on matters related to electricity and water. It also reviews tariffs under the rules of the Concessions Agreements and relevant legislation.
