Full-Time FIELD PROJECT OFFICER
Job Description
The Vanuatu Christian Council (VCC) is seeking a FIELD PROJECT OFFICER under its COMMUNITY BASED DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT AND PROTECTION PROGRAM, reporting directly to the, MANAGER for the DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM. This is a full-time position, due to start September 2018 to June 2019 for an initial 10 months contract with the possibility of extension.
The Field Project Officer will be responsible for:
- Organizing and Coordinating all aspects of the project training
- Leading a combined churches approach in equipping the churches and their leaders to effectively prepare for all sorts of natural hazards
- Supporting the coordination team and assisting the implementation of the program under the overall supervisory role of the Program Manager.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Core values align with VCC and AfP policies
- A degree in a relevant field and/or experience in disaster management or general community development projects
- Experience in disaster preparedness and response highly desired
- Experience in Protection and first aid highly desired
- Experience in creating communication materials or resources
- Report writing skills
- An understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes
- Demonstrated ability to respond to challenges and multiple project needs
- Time management skills
- Experience with work planning and cash handling in the field.
Work hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4.30 pm (11.30 – 1.30 lunch)
Program location: Efate, with travel to PENAMA
Start Date: September 2018
Citizenship requirements: Ni-Vanuatu citizen or Vanuatu resident holding work permit
