The Organisation
Au Bon Marche is Vanuatu’s largest retail and wholesale business, servicing up to 80% of local customers and expatriates within the food and grocery industry. It has the largest product variety and range in the country. It has seven Retail shops, 2 Wholesale Shops and 4 service stations.
The Position
The Chef Cook role will manage and train a team of approximately 30 staff across 7 supermarkets, 2 kitchens and 7 takeaway outlets. The Chef Cook will be dedicated in food quality and control and be responsible for ensuring the kitchens, seafood & delicatessen sections as well as the pastry department run efficiently and effectively and are continually maintained to a high standard.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Have obtained a relevant qualification with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
► Experienced in cooking Asian and Western food and have good knowledge of Pastry
► Must be well organised and reliable in managing the inventory of food and supplies
► Must be honest, mature and dedicated to food quality and control
► Have strong customer service and cross-cultural communication skills
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience in managing and training staff across multiple locations
► Hold a valid driver’s license
► Ability to speak English or French fluently
► Self-motivated and committed to work any day of the week, with one day off
